2.2 Selecting the Installation
Location
Thetransmitterisdesignedtowithstandsevere
environmentalconditions.However,toensurethatitwill
provideyearsofstableandaccurateperformance,take
thefollowingprecautionswhenselectingtheinstallation
location.
(a)AmbientTemperature
Avoidlocationssubjecttowidetemperaturevariations
orasignicanttemperaturegradient.Ifthelocationis
exposedtoradiantheatfromplantequipment,provide
adequatethermalinsulationand/orventilation.
(b)AmbientAtmosphere
Donotinstallthetransmitterinacorrosive
atmosphere.Ifthiscannotbeavoided,theremustbe
adequate ventilation as well as measures to prevent
theleakingofrainwaterandthepresenceofstanding
waterintheconduits.
(c)ShockandVibration
Althoughthetransmitterisdesignedtoberelatively
resistanttoshockandvibration,aninstallationsite
shouldbeselectedwherethisiskepttoaminimum.
(d)InstallationofExplosion-protectedTransmitters
Anexplosion-protectedtransmittersiscertiedfor
installationinahazardousareacontainingspecic
gastypes.Seesubsection2.4“Installationofan
Explosion-ProtectedInstrument.
2.3 Pressure Connection
WARNING
• Neverloosentheprocessconnectorboltswhenan
instrumentisinstalledinaprocess.Thedeviceis
underpressure,andalossofsealcanresultina
suddenanduncontrolledreleaseofprocessuid.
• Whendrainingtoxicprocessuidsthathave
condensedinsidethepressuredetector,take
appropriatestepstopreventthecontactofsuch
uidswiththeskinoreyesandtheinhalationof
vaporsfromtheseuids.
Thefollowingprecautionsmustbeobservedinorderto
safelyoperatethetransmitterunderpressure.
(a)Makesurethattheprocessconnectorboltsare
tightenedrmly.
(b)Makesurethattherearenoleaksintheimpulse
piping.
(c) Neverapplyapressurehigherthanthespecied
maximumworkingpressure.
2.4 Installation of an Explosion-
Protected Instrument
Ifacustomermakesarepairormodicationtoan
intrinsicallysafeorexplosionproofinstrumentandthe
instrumentisnotrestoredtoitsoriginalcondition,its
intrinsicallysafeorexplosionproofconstructionmaybe
compromisedandtheinstrumentmaybehazardousto
operate.PleasecontactYokogawabeforemakingany
repairormodicationtoaninstrument.
CAUTION
Thisinstrumenthasbeentestedandcertiedas
beingintrinsicallysafeorexplosionproof.Please
notethatsevererestrictionsapplytothisinstruments
construction,installation,externalwiring,maintenance
andrepair.Afailuretoabidebytheserestrictionscould
maketheinstrumentahazardtooperate.
WARNING
Maintainingthesafetyofexplosionproofequipment
requiresgreatcareduringmounting,wiring,and
piping. Safety requirements also place restrictions on
maintenanceandrepair.Pleasereadthefollowing
sections very carefully.
