Sys1~em
Power-Up
Diagnostics
(SPUD)
The
System
power-Up
Diagnostics
(SPUD)
reside
in
a
Read-
Only-Memory
(ROM)
on
the
CPU
board.
These
diagnostics
automatically
execute
in
response
to
pressing
RESET
and
START
during
system
turn-on.
They
can
also
be
initiated
from
the
CPU
Monitor
by
pressing
RESET
and
entering
T
<CAR-
RIAGE
RETURN).
SPUD
tests
the
prima~y
functions
of
the
CPU
and
peripheral
components.
The
diagnostics
verify
the
system's
ability
to
execute
a
limited
number
of
instructions,
and
to
communicate
with
Winchester
Disk
and
Tape
Cartridge
Controllers.
The
specific
functions
of
SPUD
are:

System
8000
Instruction
Test
instructions
are
tested.
Specified
system
(2)
MMU
Test
-
All
3ccessible
internal
registers
and
the
segment
trap
functions
are
tested.

-
All
memory
locations
are
tested
for
read
and
write
functions.
