Planning Aastra 400 DECT systems as of R1.0
syd-0457/1.0 – R1.0 – 10.2012
1. 4 About this document
This document describes the system characteristics the planning procedure for an
Aastra 400 system DECT. It also describes measuring equipment ME-8, which con-
tains 4 test phones Office 135pro and 2 test radio units SB-8TEST. Basically, the
measuring equipment can also be used to plan and measure other DECT systems,
for instance, for OpenMobility SIP-DECT® solutions. In this case, however, it is par-
ticularly important to re-measure and test the system definitely installed with the
radio units and cordless phones to be finally used.
Knowledge of this document is essential to the successful operation of an
Aastra 400 DECT system. The features, installation, configuration, expansion stages
and system limits, the operation and maintenance of Aastra 400 communication
servers, and the possibilities for networking several systems into a private network
(PISN) or an Aastra Intelligent Net (AIN) are not part of this Manual. They are de-
scribed in separate documents.
This user's guide should come with DECT measuring equipment ME-8 (test kit). It is
also available in electronic format, in Acrobat-Reader format. Navigation in PDF for-
mat is based on the bookmarks, table of contents, cross references and index. All
these navigation aids are linked, i.e. a mouse click takes you directly to the corre-
sponding places in the Manual. We have also ensured that the page numbering in
the PDF navigation corresponds to the page numbering of the Manual, making it
much easier to jump to a particular page.
Referenced menu entries and parameters appearing on terminal displays or in AMS
(Aastra Management Suite) are highlighted in italics and in colour for a clearer ori-
entation.
