6. 1 Test phones
The 4 test phones of the ME-8 DECT measuring device contain special test software
which extends the functionality of a standard cordless phone for test purposes.
For example:
• Loop connections via a test radio unit
• Call connection of two test phones via the same test radio unit
• Direct dial of a test radio unit
• Switchover between internal and external antennas of a test radio unit
• Switching antenna diversity on/off and selection between antenna 1 and 2.
The "automatic SW upload " function is deactivated in the test phones to prevent
unintentional overwriting of the test software by standard software.
The local menus of the test phones are only in English to save space.
Only the characteristics necessary for planning are discussed here. For more de-
tailed information, see the user’s guide and quick user’s guide of the cordless
phones.
Cordless Phones Battery Pack
The operating time with a fully-charged battery pack at room temperature is about
120 hours for standby or 12 hours talk time. Frequent use of the keys with auto-
matic backlighting of the display after pressing keys affects the operating time of
the cordless phones. When the backlighting is continuously on, operating time is
drastically reduced. Low temperatures also reduce operating time.
When the cordless phones are not used for longer periods of time, they should al-
ways be placed in the test kit without the battery pack, since the batteries dis-
charge over time even if the cordless phones are switched off.
Further information about the battery pack (handling, inserting the battery pack,
etc.) is available in the cordless phones user's guide.
