Recording protect tabs
* @ When recording the A side of the tape in the forward di-
rection (regular direction) insert the tape with the A side
facing upward.
e Cassette tapes have recording protect tabs for preven-
tion against accidental erasure. When these tabs are bro-
ken, the tape can not be recorded on. To record on such
a tape, cover the holes with adhesive tape.

lM If you want to use DOLBY B NR (Noise Reduction) when recording, set the DOLBY NR button to the ON (=)
position before you start recording.
Recording from the tuner Recording from a CD or MD
Set the input source to “TUNER” and select the pre-
set CH of the radio station that you want to record.

2 Press the TAPE REC te! / O button to engage the
recording standby mode.
The red recording indicator will light and the direction
indicator (<J or E>) will flash.
e When recording in the opposite direction of the flash-
ing tape direction indicator, press the system's <4 or
® button to change the tape direction.
3 Press the > or < button to start recording.
4 Press the m button to stop recording.
B® During recording, pressing the te! / O button at the point
where you want to stop recording will create a 4 second
blank and engage recording standby.
Note:
® When recording in the forward direction is finished, re-
cording will continue on the reverse side of the tape and
then automatically be stopped when the end of side B is
reached.
Beat cancel
(For models with LW tuner band only)
When recording the MW or LW tuner band, if noise (high
pitch sound) occurs during the rec/pause mode when
the ie! / O button is pressed, please press the TUNER
button.
1 Press the CD or MD button to select the input source
and load a CD or MD.
e Because playback will start when the CD or MD is
inserted, press the m button to stop playback.
2 Press the TAPE REC te / O button to engage the
recording standby mode.
The red recording indicator will light and the direction
indicator (<J or &) will flash.
e When recording in the opposite direction of the flash-
ing tape direction indicator, press the system's < or
® button to change the direction.
3 Press the > button to start simultaneous playback
of the CD or MD and tape recording.
e Please note that recording will not start if the 10 key
buttons are used for direct search of a track.
4 Press the m button to stop recording.
Recording will be stopped after a 4 second blank
has been created.
Mi During recording, pressing the tet / © button at the point
where you want to stop recording will create a 4 second
blank and engage the recording standby mode.
Note:
e Programmed tracks can be recorded by referring to the
CD or MD programme playback section (page 20) and
programming the tracks you wish to record beforehand.
® Recording can be started from the desired track number
by using the JOG dial to specify a track number before-
hand.
