The MD can record signals from the tuner, CD player, cas-
sette deck or components externally connected to the AUX
terminal.
@ When recording from the TUNER, TAPE or AUX input
source, the analog signal will be converted through Ana-
logue/Digital (A/D) conversion and recorded as a digital
signal.
© The digital signals of a CD or external component con-
nected to the MD’s digital input will be recorded directly.
In this case, press the CD button to select “CD” source
input.

About MD data writing
When ejecting an MD after recording or editing of its con-
tents, the disc will be ejected after MD data writing has
finished (“WRITING?” will be displayed on the FL display
at this time). Also, when the power is turned off while an
MD is still loaded, the power will be cut after writing has
finished.

e After MD recording or editing, do not suddenly cut the
power by unplugging the power cord from the AC power
outlet. This may cause improper recording. Always fin-
ish writing by ejecting the disc or pressing the © / 1
button to turn the power off.
*@ Insert the MD fully into the MD slot in the direction of the
arrow (4/4) with the label side facing up.
e Make sure that the MD is positioned correctly for inser-
tion. Do not force it into the stot.
e Make sure that the MD's recording protect tab is closed.
If it is open, close it by sliding it to the left.

@ When recording from a CD, it is necessary to connect
the CD player and MD with an optical cable.
If an optical fiber cable is not connected, and recording
is attempted, “UNLOCK” will appear on the FL display
and recording will not be possible.

recorded condition of the loaded MD.

About track numbers
Track numbers are necessary for intro search during play-
back, and editing of recorded tracks.
@ Track numbers will be newly assigned automatically
at the following times:
@ When MD recording is resumed after it has been
paused.
© If the CD track is changed during recording from a
CD, a track number will be assigned.
However, when recording classic music or a live per-
formance, track numbers may not be assigned.
Mf Track numbers can be assigned manually as follows.
e During recording, press the DIVIDE button at the
point that you want to assign a track number.
