TRANSMISSION OPERATION
MODE BUTTON
The
MODE
button is used to invoke special Electronic Control Unit (ECU)
functions. A label adjacent to the
MODE button identifies
the
function
associated with a mode change. The mode status will be indicated on the
digital display by lighting
MODE ON when the function has been selected.
DO
NOT
SHIFT
LIGHT
This indicator is located on the instrument panel. Illumination
of
this light,
accompanied by eight
seconds
of
short beeps from the shift sele(;tor,)ndicates
that shifts are being restiicted. '
The SELECT lligit on the display will be
bla~.
Operation
may
continlJein
order to .reach service assistance.
On
push button shift selectors the
ECU
will '
not respond to operator requests since operating limitations are being
pbced
on the transmission; i.e.,upshifts and downshifts may be restricted. Direction
. changes will not occur. The ECU
will
cause the transmission to shift to a safe
. - gear and Hold-In-Range and disengage the lockup clutch.
Reset procedure to clear
DO
NOT SHIFT
light
and restore operation.
When the DO NOT SHIFT light comes on, a reset procedure can be
perf0mled to clear the system.
If
necessary, continue
to
operate the vehicle and
have the transmission checked at the earliest opportunity.
Bring vehicle to a stop at a safe location and apply parking brakes.
Simultaneously press the
UP
and DOWN arrow buttons one time.
Press and hold
the
DISPLAY MODE button until a tone is heard. Then
release the button
and the'transmission will return to the direction attained
prior to clearing the active
inoicator .
. NOTE: Ifthecondition is temporary, the DO
NOT
SHIFT light .
will
not come back on
and
your vehicle will operate
in
a
normal manner. .
