11.10 Greasing the steering head bearing
Preparatory work
• Raise the motorcycle with a lift stand.
Main work
• Pull fuel tank breather 1 out of the steering stem.
• Loosen screws 2.
• Loosen nut 3.
• Using a plastic mallet, tap lightly on the upper triple fork to
remove any tensions.
• Tighten the screw 4.
• Tighten the screw 2.
• Tighten the screw 3
Guideline
Screw, top triple clamp M8 22 Nm (16 lbf ft)
• Put the fuel tank 1 vent in place in the fork tube.
Finishing work
• Check the bearing clearance of the steering head. ( .58)
• Remove the motorcycle from the lift stand.
Remove the lower triple clamp. ( .56)
• Install the lower triple clamp. ( .56)
