Cursor Problems (A)
The first section (A) of this table deals with a cursor that does not move on the screen;
however, the keyboard is working and accepting commands. (See “Cursor Problems
(B)” for additional troubleshooting information.)
Possible Cause Possible Fix
Bad mouse connection. Verify that the mouse is connected securely to the USB
keyboard.
Dirty mouse. Inspect inside of mouse for buildup of dirt or other con-
taminants. Clean mouse if necessary.
Bad USB port on the key-
board.
If the mouse is connected to the keyboard, connect the
mouse to one of the USB ports inside the iMac I/O panel
instead. Does the cursor work now?
Yes: Replace the keyboard.
No: Replace the mouse.
Bad USB port on the iMac. If the mouse is already connected to one of the USB ports
inside the iMac I/O panel, switch it to the other USB port
inside the I/O panel. If the cursor still doesn’t work,
replace the logic board.
