Description
The pred ictive cont rol 1l uses the map info rma-
tion from the navigation system in order to react
proactive ly when driving. I nformation from the
camera-based traffic sign recognition * is also ap-
plied to recognize traffic signs ¢ page 97. When
coming up to areas wi t h speed limits or changes
in the course of the road (such as curves, inter-
sections or traffic circles), the system brakes au-
tomatically and then accelerates back up to the
set speed.
Overriding control
The driver can override the predict ive control at
any time by pressing the accelerator or brake
pedal. If the system changes the vehicle speed to
adapt to speed li mits, you can change the speed
using the lever ¢ page 106, fig. 100 .
Always switch off the predictive control in
the following situations:
- When increased atte ntion is needed from the
drive r.
- In poor weat her condit ions such as snow or
heavy rain.
- When driving on roads in poor condition .
Indicator in the instrument cluster display
W hen switching on the adaptive cruise cont rol
for the first time, the message
ACC: R + B ac-
tive
in the instrument cluste r indicates the avail-
abili ty of the predictive control.
The
'?·;SOmh
symbo l appears when the system
is regulating the speed to match a speed lim it. If
this is the case, the system is regulating a speed
of SO mph (80 km/h) . The speed is then taken
over by t he adaptive cru ise control. The speed in
the speedomete r LED ring adj usts to the speed to
be maintained ¢ page 104, fig. 99.
The ll.II
¢ fig. 93 symbol appears whe n t here is an adap-
ta t ion to t he route ahead.
If you are in the Driver assistance display in the
instr ument cluster, then t he fo ll owing symbols
will indi cate w hich occurrence t he syst em is cur-

A WARNING
-
- Read the wa rnings on ¢ .&. in General infor-
mation on page 103 and on¢
& in De-
scription on page 97.
- Pay attent ion to traffic and the area around
your vehicle when pred ictive cont rol is
switched on. The driver is always responsi-
ble for assessing t he traffic situation.
- There is an increase in the risk of an acci-
dent, because the system does not consider
"right of way" rules and also does not re-
spond t o traffic lights .
- The system only considers t raff ic signs that
give a speed lim it .
- The permitted speed can be exceeded if the
adaptation to a speed lim it is incorrect . The
driver is responsible for adher ing to the per-
mitte d speed.
- The speed at w hich a curve is dr iven th rough
does not necessarily match your own driving
style. Brake the vehicle yourself whe n need-
ed t o reduce the risk of an accident .
0) Tips
- If a speed lim it is detected, the stored
speed is also adjusted in the speedometer
LED line when the adapt ive cruise control is
not active .
- The adaptat ion by t he system depends on
t he driving mode set in dr ive select *.
- Switching off predict ive cont rol, fo r exam-
ple whe n driving in low t raff ic zones, does
