Safety belts
General information
Always wear safety belts!
Wearing safety belts correctly saves lives!
This chapter exp lains why safety be lts are neces-
sary, how they work and how to adjust and wear
them correctly.

Read all the information that follows and heed
all of the instructions and WARNINGS.
A WARNING
Not wearing safety belts or wearing them im-
properly increases the risk of serious personal
injury and death.
- Safety belts are the single most effective
means ava ilable to reduce the risk of serious
injury and death in automobi le accidents.
For your protection and that of your passen-
gers, always correct ly wea r safety be lt s
when t he veh icle is mov ing.
- Pregnant wome n, inj ured, or physically im-
paired persons mus t a lso use safety be lts.
Like al l vehicle occupan t s, they a re mo re
likely t o be serio usly injured if t hey do not
wear safety be lts . The best way to protect a
fetus is to protect the mothe r - thro ughout
the ent ire pregnancy.
Number of seats
Applies to: Vehicles w ith five seats: Your vehicle
has two front seats and three rear seats. Each
seating position has a safety belt .
Applies to: Vehicles w ith seven seats: Your
vehicles has two front seats, three seats in the
second row and two seats in the third row. Each
seating position has a safety belt .

Not wea ring safety bel t s or wear ing them im-

inju ry and death.

ing small child re n, into any be lt.

cially dangero us to place a safety be lt over a
child sitting on your lap.
- Never let more peop le ride in the vehicle
than there are safety be lts available.
- Be sure everyone riding in the vehicle is
proper ly restrained with a separate safety
be lt or ch ild rest raint.
Safety belt warning light
Your vehicle has a warning system for the driver
and front seat passenger to remind you about
the importance of buckling-up.

Before driving off , always :

Fasten your safety belt and ma ke sure you are
wearing it properly.

Make sure that you r passengers also buckle up
and properly wear their safety belts.

Protect ch ildren with a child restraint system
appropr iate for the size and age .
The warning light . in the instrument cluster
lights up when t he ignit ion is switched on as a re-
minder to fasten the safety be lts. In addition,
you w ill hear a warn ing tone for a certain period
of time.
Fasten your safet y belt and make sure that your
passengers also properly put on their safety
belts .
