Front passenger's exterior mirror tilt
function*
To help you see the curb when back ing into a
pa rking space, t he surface of the mir ror tilts
slightly . For t his to happen, t he knob must be in
t he pos it ion for the front passenger's exterior
mirror.
You can adjust the t ilted m irror surface by turn-
ing the knob in the des ired direction. Whe n you
move ou t of reverse and int o a nothe r gear, the
new mirror position is stored and assigned to the
key you are using.
The mir ror goes back into its original posi t ion
once you d rive forward faster t han 9 mph
(15 km/h) or tu rn the ignition
off .
A WARNING
Curved mir ror surfaces (for examp le convex)
enlarge t he field of vision . Howeve r, they
make objects in the mirror appear sma ller
and farther away. You may est imate inco r-
rectly when you use these mirrors to ga uge
your distance from the vehicles behind you
when changing lanes, wh ich increases the risk
of an accident.
@ Note
- Applies to vehicles with power folding exte-
rior m irrors : if the mirror housing was
moved by outside forces (such as an impact
whe n ma neuver ing), you m ust use the pow-
er fold ing func ti on to fold the m irror a ll t he
way out. The m irrors will make a loud no ise
when they latch into place . The mirror hous -
ing must not be moved back into place by
48
hand because this would impair the func-
tion of the mirror mechanism.
- Applies to vehicles wit hou t power folding
exterior mirrors : if the mirror housing was
moved by outside forces (such as a n impact
when maneuvering), you must move it back
in place by hand.
- If you wash the vehicle in a n automatic car
wash, you must fold the exter ior mirrors in
to reduce the risk of damage to the m irrors.
Never fold power fo ld ing exterior mirrors*
by hand. Only fold them in and out using
the power cont rols.
