4.2.4 Temperature Increase Downstream
from Evaporator, Determining Malfunc‐
tion
The required cooling output is reached during the cooling output
test however, the air leaving the evaporator is too warm. Refer to
⇒ “4.2.2 Cooling Output, Checking“, page 81
Clamp off both coolant hoses from engine to heater core of A/C unit e.g. using Hose Clamps, Up to 40
mm -3093- . Refer to ⇒ “5.14 Heater Core“, page 144 .
Repeat cooling performance test. Refer to ⇒ “4.2 A/C Unit, Checking Cooling Output“, page 79 .
Read the measured values from the left footwell vent temperature sensor -G261- , from the right footwell
vent temperature sensor -G262- and from the evaporator vent temperature sensor -G263- using -
VAS5051B- under "Guided Fault Finding."
The measured values from left footwell vent temperature sensor and right footwell vent temperature
sensor differ by less than 3 °C from the measured value from the evaporator vent temperature sensor.
Refer to -VAS5051B- under "Guided Fault Finding."

Remove Hose Clamps, Up to 40 mm -3093-
from both coolant hoses.
Check the sensor at which the measure value deviates
for correct installation and its electrical connections for
contact resistance using -VAS5051B- in "Guided Fault
Finding" and ⇒ Wiring diagrams, Troubleshooting &
Component locations.
Check activation and function of Left Temper‐
ature Door Motor -V158- and of Right Tem‐
perature Door Motor -V159- . Refer to
⇒ “4.2.4 Temperature Increase Downstream
from Evaporator, Determining Malfunction“,
page 88 and
⇒ “4.6 Heating Performance Of A/C System,
Checking“, page 93 .
Eliminate the cause of incorrect measured value, re‐
place defective sender.
If the actuation and the function of the left temperature door motor -V158- and the right temperature door
motor -V159- OK.
yes
no
Check operation of temperature door for side
of air distribution housing responsible for tem‐
perature increase. Refer to
“2.1 Air Routing and Distribution in Passen‐
ger Compartment“, page 44 .
Replace air distribution housing if necessary.
Refer to ⇒ “5.3 A/C Unit“, page 108 .
Repeat cooling performance test. Refer to
⇒ “4.2 A/C Unit, Checking Cooling Output“,
page 79 .
Repair cause of malfunction. Refer to -VAS5051B- in
"Guided Fault Finding" and ⇒ Wiring diagrams, Trou‐
bleshooting & Component locations.
Repeat cooling performance test. Refer to
⇒ “4.2 A/C Unit, Checking Cooling Output“, page 79 .
