  Configuration and parameterization (continued)
5.2.2 Settings for asynchronous operation
In asynchronous mode, the measurements are triggered
with the frequency set in attribute5 Asynchronus Period.
These are independent of CIP-Sync of the query rate of
the PLC.
Attribute5:
Asynchronous time interval (Asynchronous Period)
The value is interpreted in nanoseconds. This is used to
set the asynchronous measurement cycle.
The setting is ignored with a value of 0 and the
measurement is carried out with the fastest possible
frequency.
A value unequal to 0 sets the cycle time, as long as it is
greater than the minimum processing time (seeTab. 5-3
on page14).
5.2.3 Further attributes of the device configuration
object
Attribute6:
Number of magnets (Number of Magnets)
The attribute Number of Magnets sets the number of
expected magnets. It has the same function as the
parameter Number_of_Magnets (see5.3.2 on page16)
in the Config-Assembly.
If Config_assembly_parameter_recognition is set to 1
(TRUE), the setting of the Config-Assembly is decisive.
Attribute7:
Measurement status (Measurement Status)
The Measurement Status attribute can only be read. This
BYTE displays the current status of the measuring unit.
Bits 0 to 4 contain the number of detected magnets. Bits 5
and 6 display the measurement mode. The measurement
is in synchronous operation if bit6 is set. If this bit is not
set, the measurement is asynchronous and the internal
time base is used.
If set, bit 7 displays a measuring error.
Attributes8 to 10:
Service functions
These attributes control special service functions.
Attributes11 to 15:
Temperature values
The temperature sensor is found on one of the electronics
circuit boards and measures the internal temperature of
the circuitry. The measured temperatures allow
conclusions to be drawn on the operating conditions and
are not suitable for precise environmental measurements.
Attribute 11Actual Temperature can be used to read the
current temperature of the electronics.
Attributes12and 13contain the highest (Session
Maximum Temperature) and the lowest (Session Minimum
Temperature) temperature since the last reset or switch on.
Attributes 14and 15 save the highest (Lifetime Maximum
Temperature) and the lowest (Lifetime Minimum
Temperature) temperature since initial start-up.
Attribute16:
FMM timeout
If the number of detected magnets is changed in the
Flexible Magnet Mode, the error value 0x7FFFFFFF is
output on all position values. The time (in milliseconds) in
which this error value is present is set using this attribute.
An error value is not output if FMM Timeout is set to 0.
See chapter5.4 Setting the number of magnets on
page17 for details.
Attribute17:
Averaging (Averaging Filter)
Averaging can be set using this attribute.
Averaging does not take place if the value is 0 or 1.
If the value is greater than 1, it provides the number of past
measurements used to produce the average. Values from
1 to 128 are possible.
The reaction time to measurement changes
increases correspondingly due to averaging.
Attributes30 to 34:
General information
Attributes 30, 31, 33 and 34 contain device information on
the type, serial number, firmware and hardware version in
text form (STRING).
Attribute31 supplies the serial number as printed on the
label, therefore with the date of manufacture and place of
manufacture. Attribute32 only supplies a shortened,
unique number. This form of serial number is part of the
CIP profile.
