About this chapter
This chapter is an elaboration on the safety chapter “High Brightness precautions” in the safety chapter. For
more information on that, see “High Brightness precautions: Hazard Distance”, page 18. The purpose is to
clarify some use cases for fencing off a Restriction Zone (RZ).
Parameters with impact on the Restriction Zone
Three parameters define if a Restriction Zone is needed and if needed, the scale of the Restriction Zone.
• The first parameter is the Hazard Distance (HD). The HD depends on the optical power produced by the
projector, the DMD size and the type of lens installed.
• The second parameter is the minimum required Separation Height (SH). This is the minimum height
between the floor and the light beam from the projector.
• The third parameter is the minimum required Separation Width (SW). This is the minimum lateral extension
of the Restriction Zone.
The type of application (Cinema, Events, Residential ...) and local regulations have also impact on the HD, SH
and SW parameters. See the safety chapter to find the correct values for the installed application.
The following topics show detailed information on the most common situations.
