Comparison method: For some assemblies or parts, the replacement method is adopted to
determine the presence of malfunction.
Note:
1. Judging the malfunction cause of diesel engine is a really precise work. Before the
cause is basically identified, do not disassemble the diesel engine casually, or it will not only
eliminate the malfunction, but also lead to more serious malfunction due to improper
assembly after disassembly.
2. Inspection and maintenance on critical components such as high-pressure fuel pump
and turbocharger shall be performed by experienced personnel using special instruments. If
having no such experience or instruments, the customer shall not disassemble or adjust these
components.
3.2 Diesel Engine General Fault and Troubleshooting
3.2.1 Start Failure or Difficult Start of Diesel Engine

1 Malfunction in fuel system
1-1 Non-opened switch or no fuel of fuel tank Open switch or add sufficient fuel.
1-2 Air content in fuel system
Check pipeline connectors for looseness and bleed air form
fuel line.
1-3 No fuel supply of fuel delivery pump Check fuel delivery pump and replace disqualified one.
1-4 Poor atomization of fuel injector Adjust or overhaul fuel injector
1-5 Wrong fuel supply advance angle Check and adjust fuel supply advance angle
1-6 Blockage of fuel pipe or fuel filter Check and clean

Insufficient compression pressure of
cylinder

Excessive wear of piston rings and cylinder

Check valve clearances and valve airtightness and grind the
valves.
