a.Disassembleandcleantheforwardgreasecouplingassembly.
b.Visuallyexaminethemaleandfemalecouplinggearteethofthe
forwardgreasecouplingassemblyforcondition.
c.Ifthemaleorfemalecouplinggearteethoftheforwardgrease
couplingassemblyfailthevisualinspection,dothefollowing:
(1)Cleananddoadetailedinspectionoftheremainingpartsofthe
forwardgreasecouplingassembly.
(2)Cleananddoadetailedinspectionoftheforwarddriveshaftassembly.
(3)Replacewithserviceableparts.
d.Visuallyexaminetheaftdiaphragmcouplingassemblyforsignsof
damage.
e.Ifthevisualinspectionshowsnosignsofdamage,theforward
driveshaftassembly,greasecouplingassembly,anddiaphragmcoupling
assemblyareserviceable.
3.Doaninspectionoftheblowersinstalledonthefanshaftassembly
asfollows:
a.Disassembleandcleanthefanshaftassembly.
b.Visuallyexaminetheforwardandaftimpellersforcondition.
c.Iftheforwardoraftimpellerhasdamagesuchascracksor
deformation,dothefollowing:
(1)Discardtheforwardandaftimpellers.
(2)Discardtheshaftassembly.
(3)Discardtheforwardandaftsplinedadapters.
(4)Discardtheforwardandaftsealedbearings.
(5)Discardthecouplingdiscpackmountedontheaftendofthefan
shaftassembly.
(6)Cleananddoadetailedinspectionoftheforwardandaftbearing
hangersandsupportbracket.
d.Visuallyexaminetheforwardandaftblowerhousingsforcondition.
e.Ifthevisualinspectionshowsnosignsofdamage,theblowersare
serviceable.
4.Doaninspectionofthefanshaftassemblyandsegmentedshaft
assembliesasfollows:
a.Cleanandexaminethemetallicshaftofthefanshaftassemblyfor
bowingorbucklingofthetube,looserivets,andcrackedpaintatthe
tube/endttinginterfaces.
