engineeringjudgement,fatiguetests,andLead-The-Fleet(LTF)programs.Theairworthinesslivesandinspection
intervalscannotbechangedwithouttheapprovalofTransportCanada.

Itistheresponsibilityofthepilottorecordtheeventsinthehelicopterlogbook.Normallandings,run-on
landings,autorotationlandings,normalretraction/extension,andemergencygearreleaseofthewheeled
landinggearsystem(ifinstalled)areeventsthatmustberecordedseparately.
ItistheresponsibilityofthemaintainertoassignRINvaluestotherecordedevents,forthepurposeof
trackingthecomponentlives.
Componentssensitivetooperationalevents,suchasnormallandings,run-onlandings,autorotationlandings,normal
retraction/extension,andemergencygearreleaseofthewheeledlandinggearsystem(ifinstalled)areassigned
amaximumRIN.Thisnumberisbasedonthefatiguedamagethatresultsfromtheseevents.Anewcomponent
beginswithanaccumulatedRINofzeroandwillincreaseasthehelicopterissubjecttoevents.Theoperatormust
recordthenumberofeventsandincreasetheaccumulatedRINasfollows:
-Foreveryone(1)normallanding,run-onlanding,autorotationlanding,normalretraction/extension,and
emergencygearreleaseofthewheeledlandinggearsystem(ifinstalled)youincreasetheaccumulatedRINfor
thecomponentbytheapplicablefactorgiveninT able1.
Example:ifapilotperformsone(1)normallandingandone(1)run-onlanding,hemustrecordone(1)occurrence
ofeachevent.ThenthemaintainermustincreasetheaccumulatedRINforeachaffectedcomponentby
thefactorapplicabletothecomponent.
WhenacomponentreachesthemaximumRINindicatedinT able1,thecomponentmustberetiredfromservice.
Priortodisposingofunsalvageablehelicopterpartsandmaterials,cautionshouldbeexercisedtoensurethatthe
partsandmaterialsaredisposedofinamannerthatdoesnotallowthemtobereturnedtoservice.
