Fault Cause Remedy
Skipped stitches
Incorrect needle system. > Use the 130/705H needle system.
The needle is bent or blunt. > Use a new BERNINA quality needle.
Needle substandard. > Use a new BERNINA quality needle.
The needle is incorrectly inserted. > Push the needle all the way to the top when inserting.
Incorrect needle point. > Match the needle point to the texture of the material.
Quilt sandwich pulled too tight. > Do not pull the quilt sandwich too tight.
Quilt sandwich with adhesive
fleece.
> Use silicone lubrication.
Upper thread breaks
Needle/thread ratio incorrect. > Match the needle with the thread size.
Upper thread is too tight. > Reduce the upper thread tension.
> Check the bobbin thread tension with the Bobbin thread
tension gauge.
Not threaded properly. > Check the upper thread.
Substandard or old thread. > Use quality thread.
Stitch hole or hook tip damaged. > Get in contact with the specialist BERNINA dealer.
Lower thread breaks
Bobbin thread tension too high. > Increase the upper thread tension, or adjust the bobbin
thread tension with the bobbin thread tension gauge.
The stitch hole in the stitch plate
is damaged.
> Get in contact with the specialist BERNINA dealer.
Needle blunt or bent. > Use a new needle.
Bobbin thread caught. > Check the bobbin thread.
Needle breaks
Needle not properly secured. > Tighten the screw of the needle holder.
Substandard thread with knots. > Use quality thread.
Screen not responding
Incorrect calibrating data. > Recalibrate the screen (see page61)
The eco mode is active. > Deactivate eco mode.
Calibration screen cannot be
opened
Screen not responding. > Switch the machine off.
> Keep your finger on the screen.
> Switch on the machine while your finger is on the
screen.
