Why is the density reading fluctuating strongly on my Berthold Uni-Probe LB 491?
    • C
      castilloseanAug 2, 2025
If the density reading on your Berthold Measuring Instruments fluctuates strongly, there could be several reasons: * The time constant might be too small. In this case, increase the time constant in the parameter menu to a minimum of 20 seconds. * The calibration might be wrong, so check the calibration values. * Rapid switch-over with too small Sigma value might be enabled. Disable rapid switch-over. * The count rate might be too low. Check the age of the source and irradiation level, and consider replacing the detector.

What to do if the count rate is too low on Berthold Uni-Probe LB 491?
    • T
      Tracy JohnstonAug 9, 2025
If the count rate is too low on your Berthold Measuring Instruments, consider the following possible causes: 1. The shielding may not be opened or not correctly opened. Check the lock and secure it in the OPEN position. 2. The alignment of the useful beam toward the detector may not be correct. Correct and optimize the alignment. 3. There may be vessel installations in the path of radiation. Offset irradiation levels. 4. Wall deposits may have formed in the vessels. Remove wall deposits or perform a new calibration if the deposits cannot be removed. 5. The source may have reached the end of its service life. Renew the source (Co-60 after 5 to 10 years, at the earliest).

Why does the density reading show drifts on my Berthold Measuring Instruments?
    • T
      Tina HarrisAug 18, 2025
If your Berthold Measuring Instruments are showing drifts in the density reading, it could be due to: * A faulty detector stabilization: Replace the detector. * A faulty photomultiplier: Replace the multiplier.

How to troubleshoot no signal on Berthold Uni-Probe LB 491 Measuring Instruments?
    • N
      Natalie HarrisAug 25, 2025
If you are getting no signal from your Berthold Measuring Instruments, check the power supply and fuses. Also, check if LED 1 on the digital board is flashing, as the system might be out of work.
