4 Electrical Installation Volume 1
4.1 Conduits
The Uni-Probe housing is provided with ¾" NPT conduits through
which the electrical cables are installed according to regulations.
Cable pipes or screwed cable glands can be screwed into the con-
duits. They have to be licensed for the respective type of protection
and have to be installed carefully in accordance with regulations!
Make sure that the threads are clean and apply the supplied lubri-
cant OKS 217 completely onto the NPT thread. Cables and cable
conduits have to be aligned such that water cannot flow into the
bushing along the cable. Make sure that the cables that are con-
nected to the Uni-Probe will be installed without chafing, strain-
relieved and without bending.
Please refer to sections 4.5 to 4.7 for special information on how to
connect a Uni-Probe with intrinsically safe signal output or with
fieldbus communication.
The electrical cables must be installed through the conduits of the
Uni-Probe using cable pipes or screwed cable glands.
Unused conduits must have dummy plugs installed. For additional
sealing against humidity we recommend wrapping Teflon tape
around the threads.
