If there's excessive distance between the electrodes, check the distance between them. Inspect the ignition connector or coil for looseness or oxidation, cleaning and tightening if necessary. Finally, check for water in the carburetor and empty the carburetor tank if needed. If the engine is flooded, operate the electrical starter push button 2 times for 5 seconds.
