Clean the glasses which you want to use with hot water and mild detergent
before using them in order to remove any grease and dirt residues so that the
formation of a frothy head is not impaired when beer is poured into the glass.
PLEASE NOTE: As different varieties of beer have different levels of CO
2
added to them,
you will require correspondingly different operating pressures (saturation pressure) to
guarantee the quality of the respective beer.
If when drawing the beer you notice that your beer is too fi zzy or not fi zzy enough, adjust
the pressure using the pressure regulator (not possible with a carbonated keg). Please
note here that the carbonic acid content in the beer only changes over the course of time.
1. Prepare the beer pump and the beer keg in the manner described in the "Prepara-
tion" chapter and allow the beer to cool down to the target temperature which is set.
2. Clean the glasses and rinse them out with cold, clear water before each glass of beer
which you draw. If the glass or beer is too warm, too much froth will be produced
during drawing.
3. Hold the glass tilted at an angle below the tap (without touching it with the glass)
and pull the tap handle smoothly and evenly towards you as far as it will go. If the
tap is only opened halfway, more froth can be produced as the beer is unable to fl ow
unimpeded.
NOTE: It is normal for the beer to produce a lot of froth when the fi rst few glasses are
poured after tapping into the keg.
4. If the pressure is insuffi cient when drawing the beer, turn the pressure regulator in
the + direction. After drawing, turn it back as far as it will go in the – direction. (With a
carbonated keg, the pressure cannot be adjusted.)
5. Allow the beer to run down the inside of the glass and slowly turn the glass upright
during the drawing process until it is fi nally fully vertical. PLEASE NOTE: Do not im-
merse the tap in the beer so that it does not produce excessive froth!
6. Close the tap as soon as the froth has reached the edge of the glass by pushing the
handle smoothly and evenly upwards away from you.
7. Place the glass on the drainage grille and wait until the froth has settled.
8. Repeat the drawing process until a pleasant ratio between beer and froth has been
achieved. The ideal frothy head should be around the width of two fi ngers high and
protrude slightly beyond the edge of the glass.
Removing / Changing the Beer Keg from the Beer Pump
CAUTION!
Never remove the tapping sword or the carbonated keg adapter from the keg when
it is not empty and is still pressurised! Empty the beer keg completely beforehand!
1. When the beer keg is empty, turn the pressure regulator to its limit stop in the – posi-
tion.
2. Open the tap to release any gas which may still be present in the keg.
3. Switch off the beer pump (switch position 0).
4. Open the lid of the beer pump.
