Do you have a question about the Bollhoff RIVKLE B2007 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The RIVKLE® B2007 is a battery-operated riveting tool designed for the professional installation of threaded inserts and stud bolts in pre-drilled supports. This device utilizes a pressure setting method, where the setting force is controlled irrespective of the workpiece thickness, ensuring consistent setting quality. This is particularly advantageous for applications with variable material thicknesses, such as plastic parts or multi-layered assemblies.

Function Description:

The setting method of the RIVKLE® B2007 involves four main operations:

  1. Spin on: The RIVKLE® is positioned onto the mandrel. A light axial pressure initiates the motor, causing the RIVKLE® to screw onto the mandrel automatically until it reaches a stop (Push-Pull system).
  2. Insert: The RIVKLE® and mandrel assembly is then inserted into the pre-drilled hole in the workpiece. Alternatively, the RIVKLE® can be placed into the hole first, and then the mandrel pushed against it to activate the push-pull system.
  3. Crimp (Setting): The main trigger is pressed and held, initiating the setting cycle. The tool applies a controlled setting force, deforming the RIVKLE® to create a secure joint. The pressure setting method ensures optimal crimping even with variations in workpiece thickness, preventing improper setting or damage to the RIVKLE® thread and mandrel.
  4. Spin off: After the crimping is complete, the mandrel automatically unscrews from the RIVKLE® thread. The trigger should be held down until the mandrel is fully disengaged. If unscrewing is difficult, a dedicated "Unscrew / Reset" button can be used by holding it down until the mandrel is completely free.

The device features an intuitive display screen that shows the battery load level, information on the screwing state, and the setting force level in kN. It also provides access to programming and service menus.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Setting Force (min - max): 3.00 –> 22.00 kN (up to 18kN with standard tooling, >18kN with appropriate accessory kit).
  • Setting Capacity: RIVKLE® M3 to M10 (for nuts) and RIVKLE® Stud M4 to M8 (for studs). M10 capacity requires an appropriate accessory set.
  • Maximum Stroke: 7.0 mm.
  • Weight of the Tool: 2.1 kg.
  • Weight of the Battery (2.6Ah): 0.3 kg.
  • Battery: Li-Ion / 14.4 V / 2.6 Ah (also available with 4.0Ah battery).
  • Environmental Limitations of Use: 5°C - 40°C.
  • Vibration Amplitude: 0.672 m/s².
  • IP Degree of Protection: 20.
  • Noise Emission: Sound pressure level (LpA): 71.1 dB(A); Sound power level (LwA): 82.1 dB(A).
  • Dimensions: Approximately 220 mm (L) x 28.5 mm (Ø) x 330 mm (H).

Usage Features:

  • Setting Force Adjustment: The setting force can be easily adjusted via the display. By pressing and holding the "SET" button for 2 seconds, the digits blink, allowing the user to increase or decrease the value in 100N steps using the left (-) and right (+) buttons. Confirmation is done by pressing the "OK" button or waiting 5 seconds. Note that higher setting forces consume more battery power.
  • Tooling Configurations: The RIVKLE® B2007 supports both special BÖLLHOFF RIVKLE® mandrels (recommended for extended tool life) and standard DIN912 capscrews with appropriate adapters.
  • Anvil and Mandrel Adjustment: Precise adjustment of the anvil position relative to the mandrel is crucial and depends on the RIVKLE® length. The manual provides detailed instructions for this, including torque specifications for tightening the counter nut (10 Nm) and nose (15 Nm).
  • Programming Menu: Accessing the programming menu allows users to select the display language (French, English, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese), reset the part cycle counter, and set the automatic switch-off time (1, 5, or 10 minutes) to preserve battery life.
  • Service Sub-menu: This menu provides access to identification data (serial number, firmware version, total cycles), button functionality checks, sensor status (position and pressure), push-pull system status, internal temperature readings, next service interval, and force setting verification. It also allows restoring factory defaults.
  • Portability: The device can be used in all positions, handheld or suspended.

Maintenance Features:

  • Daily Maintenance:
    • Check the mandrel thread.
    • Control the battery load level.
    • Add grease inside the traction fork (each mandrel replacement).
  • Regular Maintenance (5,000 to 10,000 cycles):
    • Replace or clean the mandrel (RIVKLE® should screw freely by hand).
  • Hydraulic System Maintenance (5,000 to 15,000 cycles):
    • Oil draining and filling up.
  • Anvil Replacement (25,000 to 50,000 cycles):
    • If the internal diameter is > D + 0.5mm.
  • Inspection 1 (Every 250,000 cycles):
    • Controlling main functions and performances.
    • Replacement of oil and draining.
    • Calibration of setting load.
  • Inspection 2 (Every 500,000 cycles):
    • Full maintenance of the setting head (seal parts, spring, etc.).
    • Replacement of the traction fork.
  • Oil Level Check: A dedicated accessory (236 166 00309) facilitates easy oil refilling. Only Mobil Velocite Oil Nr. 6 or similar oil should be used.
  • Safety Precautions: The battery must always be disconnected before any maintenance or tooling replacement. Maintenance operations should only be performed by qualified and trained personnel.

The RIVKLE® B2007 is designed for durability and performance, with a warranty of 12 months or 250,000 cycles, whichever comes first. Regular maintenance and the use of original spare parts are essential to ensure its continued safe and efficient operation.
