Long-Term Storage
1. Park machine according to “Stopping” described on Page 35.
2. Completely check machine and repair or replace defective parts according to “Periodical
Check Sheet” shown on Page 44.
3. Remove all foreign matter such as grass and soil from the machine.
4. Wipe clean the outside of the machine with oil-soaked cloth then grease or lubricate the
portions where greasing or lubrication is required. (See Pages 20 and 73.)
5. Increase tire pressure to slightly higher than the standard value and block the wheels.
6. Replace the engine oil. (See Page 49.)
7. Clean the air cleaner elements. (See Page 52.)
8. Drain the fuel remaining in the tank. (See Page 55.)
9. Remove the battery from the machine, check the battery electrolyte, and add water if low.
(See Page 64.)
10. Cover machine with a water repellent sheet for storage after the engine has completely
cooled down.
* Do not wash the engine and control panels with water to prevent failure and rust
due to soaking.
* Completely remove surface moisture to prevent failures caused by freezing.
* Store machine in a dry, clean environment.
* Avoid storing machine near open flames or flammable material to reduce risk of
fire.
* A battery will usually naturally discharge when not used. A battery can be kept in storage
for about six months without needing charging. To maintain battery life stored batteries
should be charged every six months.
* Refer to the instruction manual attached to the engine for details about long-term storage
of the engine.
