MAINTENANCE
EMERGENCY STARTING USING JUMPER CABLES
WARNING
The following procedures must be performed exactly as outlined, otherwise a fire or a battery explosion could result in property damage,
personal injury, or death.
1.
Do not allow metal tools to contact positive terminal of battery to prevent shorting of the electrical system.
2.
Place transmission in Neutral and set parking brake in both vehicles.
3.
Shut off lights, heater, air conditioner and any other electrical loads in both vehicles.
4.
Wear eye protection.
5.
Make sure vehicle bodies are not touching.
6.
Connect one of the first jumper cables to the positive terminal of the dead battery and then other end to the positive terminal of the booster
battery.
7.
Connect one of the second jumper cables to the negative terminal of the booster battery and then other end to the chassis of the dead battery
vehicle.
8.
Reverse above procedure when removing the jumper cables.
