6. USAGE IN EXPLOSION DANGEROUS AREAS

Modifications made to the device as well as the use of other, non-original, components is not
permitted.
Repairs or part replacements should only be carried out in a non-explosion dangerous area or
environment and should only be performed by a Consilium trained and authorised service
technician.
The ST650EX / ST650-CO
2
/ ST350EX sensing head should be connected to the gas detection
control system according to the wiring diagram as given in chapter 2 - INSTALLATION. The earth
connection, as mentioned in the connection diagram, should be a clean earth connection.

The Consilium splashguard may store an ignition capable level of electrostatic charge in a IIC and
a IIIC environment. The type labels on the enclosures may store an ignition capable level of
electrostatic charge in a IIIC environment. Therefore the user/installer should implement
precautions to prevent the build-up of electrostatic charge, i.e. locate the equipment where a
charge-generating mechanism (such as wind-blown) is unlikely to be present and clean with a
damp cloth (not with a dry cloth)
7. LIABILITY IN CASE OF DAMAGES
During use and maintenance of the ST650EX / ST350EX sensing head one should follow this
guide and maintain as instructed. The instrument should only be used in applications as
described in this manual. In case of repairs, only original Consilium parts must be used.
Consilium is not liable for damages through usage of the ST650EX / ST650-CO
2
/ ST350EX, if the
system is used in other applications or in another way as described in the manual.
The same will apply for maintenance and repairs which are not carried out by the Consilium
service department or by a Consilium authorised service centre. Also in this case Consilium, and
its subsidiary CONSILIUM, will reject all liability and the warranty will be void.
