ST650EX / ST650-CO
2
/ ST350EX
v3.16

1. GENERAL
The ST650EX sensing head is designed for the detection of flammable and combustible gasses.
The ST650-CO
2
is a specific version for the detection of Carbon Dioxide. The ST350EX sensing
head is designed for the detection of flammable and toxic gasses at ppm level. The
ST350EX/ST650EX can be integrated within a stationary gas detection system such as the
Consilium CGS50/500, CGD50/500 systems.
The ST650EX / ST650-CO
2
/ ST350EX features the “one-man-calibration” design. All necessary
calibration settings are available on the sensing head. This calibration method offers the highest
degree of accuracy and can be carried out by one person. A secondary calibration procedure on
the gas detection control unit is not necessary.
The ST650EX / ST650-CO
2
/ ST350EX sensing head is optionally available with a LC-Display and
control buttons. The display offers an up-to-date “live” reading of the measured gas
concentration and several status messages. The control buttons enables the calibration menu of
the sensing head.
The ST650EX is suitable for the detection of flammable gasses. The following measurement
principles will be used, Catalytic (CAT), Nondispersive InfraRed (NDIR) and Thermal-Conductivity-
Detector (TCD). The ST650-CO
2
features a NDIR sensor.
The ST350EX is suitable for the detection of hydro-carbons, refrigerants and toxic gasses. The
following measurement principles will be used, Catalytic (CAT), Nondispersive InfraRed (NDIR)
and Thermal-Conductivity-Detector (TCD).
The ST650EX / ST650-CO
2
/ ST350EX generates a standard 4-20mA output signal. The ST650EX
/ ST650-CO
2
/ ST350EX also features a RS-485 communication interface, which offers
communication capabilities for industrial installations. The sensing head uses the MODBUS
protocol.
The ST650EX / ST650-CO
2
/ ST350EX sensing head is supplied with an Ex d/Ex t enclosure and
features an Ex d/Ex t certified cable gland. The Ex d/Ex t sensor of the sensing head is replaceable
and can be optimised for numerous combustible gasses.
