5.3.1 Connection ports
1) Connect a test pressure source to the oil mist separator IN port: Rc1/4. A high test pressure source
must be connected to the air filter.
2) Connect a pilot pressure source to the filter IN port: 6mm one-touch joint.
5.3.2 Pressure sources
1) Test pressure sources
Test Pressure
Source Pressure
L
(Low)
100 kPa
or lower
Connect a pressure source meeting the following
requirements:
Sufficiently higher than the test pressure
Clean and dry
Sufficient flow capacity for the test
If the source pressure fluctuates
put another pressure
regulator inline before the leak tester (Test pressure + 100
kPa or higher.). *1
Up to 500
kPa
M
(Medium)
800 kPa
or lower
Up to 1 MPa
H10
(High)
990 kPa
or lower
Connect a pressure source sufficiently higher than the test pressure. Up to
1.8 MPa.
H15
(High)
1.5 MPa
or lower
Connect a pressure source sufficiently higher than the test pressure. Up to
1.8 MPa.
V
(Vacuum)
-100 kPa
or lower
Connect a vacuum pump.
*1 Source pressure regulator
Connect a source pressure regulator to the leak tester's oil mist separator directly or with an as
short a separation as possible through a sufficiently broad pipeline to prevent shortages of the flow
rate.
Recommended regulator types
AR3000 Series (manufactured by SMC)
R3000 Series (manufactured by CKD)
2) Pilot pressure sources
Test Pressure
Pilot pressure
L (Low)
M (Medium)
H10 (High)
H15 (High)
V (Vacuum)
Connect dry and clean air regulated to 400 to 700 kPa.
Shut off the pressure source before connecting or disconnecting it.
CAUTION
Prevent tester from getting contaminated with water and oils.
NOTE
Pressure source stability influences measurement accuracy. If a master having
a different volume or shape from the tested part, such as a master chamber, is
used, the effects of source pressure changes will be more pronounced.
