9. Remove one of the two bolts that hold the
exhaust system bracket to the forward cross-
member using a pair of 1/2” wrenches. Loosen
the second nut and bolt. See Figure 3.66.
10. Maneuver the exhaust system to separate it
from the forward cross-member.
11. Remove the eight bolts that hold the rear cross-
member to the frame using a pair of 1/2”
wrenches. See Figure 3.67.
11.1. Lift the muffler and remove the rear cross mem-
ber from the vehicle.
12. Clean the area surrounding the connection to
the second axle, and pop the axle loose from the
differential. See Figure 3.68.
13. Slide the differential back to disconnect the drive
shaft from the pinion shaft of the differential.
14. Remove the differential from the vehicle, sepa-
rating the second axle from the differential in the
process. See Figure 3.69.
15. Place the differential in a pan to drain.
