4. The cooling system extends to the front of the
vehicle. See Figure 8.4.
5. Routine engine maintenance includes:
• Air filter
• Oil level check, oil and filter change, and fill.
• Engine Crankcase breather
• Fuel system and linkages up to the injector
pump
• Cooling System service
6. Engine Identification: Caterpillar engines carry
an identification tag, mounted to the engine
block just above the injector pump.
See Figure 8.5.
• The tag Identifies the Model Number (C0.7),
Arrangement Number, and Serial Number
• These numbers will be necessary when dealing
with a Caterpillar Service Center.
• Basic engine specifications are described in the
table below:
7. Engine Service Policy:
• Caterpillar engines will be serviced according to
the terms Industrial Service Dealer Program
(ISD).
• Under this agreement, ISD dealers will be able
to provide Non-intrusive service using genuine
Caterpillar parts supplied through Caterpillar’s
distribution system.
• Caterpillar Warranty claims will be administered
through the partnering Caterpillar dealer.
• Intrusive service will be done by the partnering
Caterpillar dealer either at the Caterpillar dealer-
ship or on-sight as a service call.
• Non-intrusive maintenance includes external
engine peripherals such as Starter motors, alter-
nators, filters, belts, etc....
