16. Disconnect the air intake hose.
See Figure 8.133.
16a. Clean thoroughly around the air intake
hose connection to the intake manifold.
16b. Loosen the hose clamp and disconnect
the hose.
16c. Tape-off or plug the open hose end and
the intake manifold.
NOTE: Inspect the inside of the hose. Clean or
replace the hose as necessary before re-con-
necting it to the engine.
17. Remove the CVT as described in the CVT and
Transfer Case chapter of this manual.
See Figure 8.134.
NOTE: The air filter assembly is easily removed.
The technician may do so for easier access.
18. Remove the 3 screws that hold the tapered shaft
adaptor to the flywheel using a 16mm wrench,
and remove the adaptor.
19. Remove the 5 sets of nut and bolts that hold the
steel engine-to-transmission plate to the engine
using a pair of 1/2” wrenches. See Figure 8.135.
19a. Remove the 4 screws that hold the
engine-to-transmission plate to the trans-
mission using a 1/2” wrench.
See Figure 8.136.
19b. Shock the plate with a SOFT hammer to
loosen it from the locator pins. Pry it off
the pins and remove it from the vehicle.
