10. Un-bolt the fuel filter and bracket from the frame
using a pair of 7/16” wrenches, and move the
fuel filter assembly out of the way.
See Figure 8.103.
11. Remove the two screws that fasten the fuel tank
hold-down wire to the frame. See Figure 8.104.
12. Lift the fuel tank hold-down wire up, and pivot
the front of the tank inward. See Figure 8.105.
13. Pull the fuel tank back and out to remove it.
14. When installing the fuel tank reverse the instruc-
tions for fuel tank removal.
15. Fuel pick-up fitting: See Figure 8.106.
The fitting consists of a brass 90 degree elbow
and an plastic tube.
The tube reaches to near the bottom of the fuel
tank and is shrunk onto the fitting.
When diagnosing a fuel starvation issue do not
over-look the possibility of an air leak between
the elbow and the pick-up tube.
For installation: install the bushing first, lubricate
the fitting with diesel fuel, and install it in the
bushing.
