21l. Insert the battery terminals cover into the slot
in the battery tray.
NOTE: There is a notch in the cover to allow the
battery cables to pass through it. This notch
should be at the bottom, on the right hand
side.
See Figure 20.
21m. Attach top tray using the two long J-bolts from
the cardboard box.
21n. Install the hex flange lock nuts on the J-bolts.
Tighten them to a torque of 160 - 200 in lbs
(18 - 22 Nm).
21o. Place the 4
th
battery on its side, with the termi-
nals facing up, on the floor board in front of the
seat box assembly.
21p. Connect the wire with the blue tape (from the
3
rd
battery) to the positive terminal 4
th
battery.
NOTE: In order for the battery to fit properly, the
leads must be oriented towards the center of
the battery when attached to the battery.
See Figure 21.
21q. Connect the black wire from under left pod to
the negative terminal on 4
th
battery.
NOTE: Tighten the terminal nuts to a torque of 10 -
15 ft lbs (14 - 20 Nm).
21r. Verify the battery cable connections:
• Set a DMM to read DC volts.
• Touch the positive probe to the positive terminal
of battery number 1.
• Touch the negative probe to the negative termi-
nal of battery number 4.
• The DMM should read 48 volts or more.
NOTE: If the read is lower than 48 volt, check the
battery connections.
21s. Slide the battery into place.
NOTE: Do not allow the battery cables to get
pinched or hooked on the deck lift links.
