MAINTENANCE
5.1 GENERAL
CAUTION
The Model 1350 DMM is covered by a one-year warranty,
and it shouid be returned to the factory for maintenance
within the warranty period. Attempts to make any extensive
repairs within the warranty period may invalidate the war
ranty. If repairs are needed after the warranty period, only
qualified technicians should attempt to effect such repairs
and should use test instruments and standards calibrated
within the accuracy and tolerances of the instrument
specifications.
5.2 TROUBLE SHOOTING STRATEGY
Should the meter performance indicate the need for repair, a weii-defined
strategy should be used to isolate the cause of the malfunction. Such a
strategy begins with an analysis of the symptoms of malfunction in order
to keep to a minimum the repair and replacement operations within the
meter assembly. Much can be learned from an analysis of the meter per
formance under varying input conditions. Figure 5-1 illustrates the type of
closed-case analysis that may t>e used to isolate the probable cause of
malfunction to specific circuits. As shown in the illustration, some checks
may be made without opening the meter, while others require access to
internal circuitry.
CAUTION
Do not attempt any internal repairs before observing the cau
tions and warnings in paragraph 5.3. Check all input and line
connections before assuming an internal circuit cause of the
malfunction symptom. Read and understand Chapter 4,
Principles of Operation, before attempting any repair.
