NOTE
Device features that can be disabled by the heat management
function can still be manipulated by other software. This
decision is made to preserve the existing software layers (such
as the network stack) which we cannot change. As a result, it is
possible (but not likely) that unusual race conditions may result
from two pieces of software both trying to control a feature.
