Processor Heat-Sink Fan

WARNING: The processor heat sink may be very hot during normal operation.
Ensure that it has had sufficient time to cool before you touch it.
CAUTION: Only a certified service technician should perform repairs on your
computer. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by
your warranty.
CAUTION: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist
grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such as a
connector on your computer).
CAUTION: To help prevent damage to the system board, remove the main battery
(see "Removing the Battery Pack" on page 13) before working inside the computer.
Removing the Processor Heat-Sink Fan

Follow the instructions in "Before You Begin" on page 9.

Remove the battery pack (see "Removing the Battery Pack" on page 13).

Remove the compartment door (see "Removing the Compartment Door"
on page 15).

Disconnect the processor heat-sink fan cable from the connector on the
system board.

Loosen the three captive screws that secure the processor heat-sink fan to
the chassis.
6
Lift the processor heat-sink fan along with the cable away from the chassis.
