Front/Center/Surround:
This is the normal setting.
Center/Surround/SurroundBack:
The power amplifier for the front channels is used for the surround
back channel.
When this is set, the surround back left and right signals are amplified
and output from the front left and right speaker terminals.
The front channel signals are only output from the pre-out terminals, so connect a separate power amplifier to
these terminals. (see page 14)

Set the distance between the
center speaker and the listening
position.
The distance changes in units of 1
foot (0.1 meters) each time the
button is pressed. Select the value
closest to the measured distance.
If “Yes” is selected for “Default”, the settings are automatically reset
to the default values.
Please note that the difference of distance for every speaker should be 15
ft (4.5 m) or less. If you set an invalid distance, a CAUTION notice, such
as screen right will appear. In this case, please relocate the blinking
speaker(s) so that its distance is no larger than the value shown in
highlighted line.
Example: When the distance is set to 12 feet
for the center speaker
7
Enter the setting.
The System Setup Menu reappears.
The AVR-4800 automatically sets the optimum surround delay time for the listening room.
ENTER
NOTE:
If the distance unit is changed after the delay time is set, the settings are reset to the factory default values (see page 18).
Setting the Power Amp Assignment
Set this when the power amplifier for the front channels is switched for use with the surround back channel.
1
At the System Setup Menu select “Power Amp Assignment”.
2
Switch to the Power Amp Assignment screen.
ENTER
3
Select the setting.
The selected speaker(s) flash.
NOTE:
The “Power Amp Assignment” setting screen is displayed when the surround back speaker is set to “Large” or “Small” at “Speaker
