EasyIO FW Series – Network Connectivity v2.0
12
What is DHCP and Static IP address
The Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a standardized network protocol used on Internet
Protocol (IP) networks. The DHCP is controlled by a DHCP server that dynamically distributes network
configuration parameters, such as IP addresses, for interfaces and services. A router or a residential
gateway can be enabled to act as a DHCP server. A DHCP server enables computers to request IP
addresses and networking parameters automatically, reducing the need for a network administrator or a
user to configure these settings manually. In the absence of a DHCP server, each computer or other
device (e.g., a printer) on the network needs to be statically (i.e., manually) assigned to an IP address.

FW Series controller support Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP).
The FW series supports both DHCP server and DHCP client.
The FW series also supports static IP addressing (manual assign IP address) as well.
FW Series DHCP Server
FW Series DHCP server work if for both main and secondary SSID Wi-Fi and on board ethernet as well.
By default DHCP server for main SSID is disable.
Only DHCP server at secondary SSID is enable by default.
If DHCP server is enable, FW will automatically assign an IP address to the computer or device connected
to it through either one connection type above.
FW DHCP server valid DHCP IP range is between 100 ~ 199.
A simple diagram below shows that FW-01 has DHCP server enable.
FW-02 is DHCP client which gets an IP address assign by FW-01. (DHCP server at FW-02 is disable)
FW-03 is DHCP client which gets an IP address assign by FW-01. (DHCP server at FW-03 is disable)
**Recommendation : DO NOT create 2 DHCP server in a single LAN network**
**This could caused network disturbance if NOT configured properly by a network
administrator**
