EasyIO FW Series – Network Connectivity v2.0
37
Network Connection Recommendation
Base on our connection mode discussed in previous chapter we would like to explain the FW series
connection limitation for best performance.
A SITE SURVEY IS MANDATORY FOR ANY FW INSTALLATION. An undocumented site
survey will void any return or warranty of FW products. The wireless site survey is used
to determine the number and placement of devices necessary to provide sufficient signal
coverage to support a minimum data rate or throughput. A wireless site survey also
detects interference coming from other sources that could degrade the performance of
the wireless communication among devices. Obstacles that may interfere with signal
strength include:
Concrete
Brick
Rebar
Elevators
Stairwells
Satellite Dishes
Power sources
Heavy machinery
Cordless Phones
Wireless Video
Wireless Speakers
RF Radio
Monitors and LCD displays
Microwave Ovens
Chicken wire
Tinted Windows
Neighboring WiFi devices
Sensors
Bluetooth devices
A rule of thumb is that DO NOT create more than 2 tier of Wi-Fi connection vertically for best
performance. This is to avoid unnecessary traffic bottle neck at the top.
Diagram below shows that top FW Is connected to a network switch via ethernet cable.
The Master FW then is configured as AP and has up to 5 FW connected to it via Wi-Fi.
You can have multiple of this configuration is a single network for example 2 Master FW is connected to a
network switch via ethernet cable.
Each FW master then has up to 5 Wi-Fi clients connected to it.
Always retain signal strength of each FW Wi-Fi client at 65% and above.
