Numbering Zones on Keypads
The key-kpz01 keypad provides terminals for up to two zones using FSL or 2-wire CC
wiring. or one zone using 4-wire CC wiring. To use the zones on the keypad you must first
enable them from the Detectors/Devices Wired Keypads Edit menu (see page 59). Use
the same menu to select the zone wiring type of the keypad zones, independently of the
zone wiring type used by the control unit or the wired expanders. The zone wiring type will
affect the zone numbering.
When you enable the zones connected to a KEY-KPZ01 the control unit assigns them to
zone numbers at the top of the control unit’s zone number range.
FSL or 2-Wire CC For i-onEX Range
Using the i-on160EX as an example, the highest possible zone number would be 159.
When the control unit gives an address to the first KEY-KPZ01 to be added then it
allocates the zone number 159 to terminals Z2 on the keypad, and zone number 158 to
terminals Z1. When you add the next KEY-KPZ01 then the control unit allocates the zone
numbers 156 to terminals Z1 and 157 to terminals Z2 on the new keypad. Note that the
zone numbers do not have any relation to the keypad bus numbers.
FSL or 2-Wire CC For i-on16 and i-on40
The keypad zone numbering on the i-on16 and i-on40 is slightly different from the i-onEX
range. On these control units the zone numbers are linked directly to the keypad numbers.
Keypad 1 always takes the two highest zones numbers, keypad 2 the next two highest and
so on. Using the i-on40 as an example, keypad 1 zones take zone numbers 40 and 39,
while keypad 3 zones will take zone numbers 36 and 35.
The table below shows typical keypad zone numbers for each type of i-on control unit
when using FSL or 2-wire CC zone wiring on the keypad.

Zone Numbers for 4-Wire CC
When you wish a keypad to use 4-wire CC zone wiring then the control unit still assigns
zone numbers at the top of the zone numbering range, but this time it uses only alternate
zone numbers. The table below shows typical keypad zone numbers for 4-wire CC wiring:
