8 Maintenance
CAUTION
Prior to repair and maintenance work and metering of dangerous media, always rinse the
metering head, relieve the pressure pipe and wear protective clothing (protective goggles,
gloves and apron).
Metering pumps must only be maintained by technically competent and authorized
persons.
When opening the covers or removing parts, except when this is possible without tools,
voltage-
carrying parts may be exposed. Connection points may also be under live voltages.
Before calibration, maintenance, repairs or replacement of parts, the device must be
disconnected from all voltage sources if it is necessary to open up the device.
NOTE
The maintenance interval is quarterly. Shorter intervals are recommended in the event of
heavy loads (e.g. continuous use).
The following inspections are recommended:
suction pipes and pressure pipes for leak-free connections.
suction valve and pressure valve (see chapter 8.1
Replacing the suction / pressure valve
for dirt and tightness.
discharge connection (see chapter 5Setupfig. 5.1) on the pump head
(for membrane burst).
correct metering.
metering head screws (see chapter 8.2
Metering head and diaphragm replacemen
fig. 8.3, pos. 1), (stable seat, 12 Nm).
Oil-level on oil-level gauge glass (minimum level see Fig. 8.4).
NOTE
The life of the diaphragm depends on the:
backpressure, operating temperature and metering medium.
It is recommended to inspect the diaphragm more frequently in extreme operating
conditions or if abrasive substances are metered.
Gear oil should be changed after a max. of 10.000 hours of operation or after two years
(see chapter 8.3 "Gear oil change").
8.1 Replacing the suction / pressure valve
Loosen valve anti-clockwise with an appropriate open-jawed spanner
(1¼"-valve SW 41; 2"-valve SW 56) and unscrew valve.
Carefully remove O-ring.
Screw-in valve into metering head; take account of direction arrow! (points upwards).
Fig. 8.1
On the suction valves and pressure valves, the flow direction is
marked with an engraved arrow. When inserting it, always ensure
that the valves are inserted according to the flow direction!
