Many regions require specic safety devices. It is your responsibility to
familiarize yourself with the laws of the state where you ride and to comply
with all applicable laws, including properly equipping yourself and your bike
as the law requires.
Reectors are important safety devices that are designed as an integral part
of your bicycle. Federal regulations require every bicycle to be equipped
with front, rear, wheel and pedal reectors and/or lights. These reectors
are designed to pick up and reect street lights and car lights in a way that
helps you to be seen and recognized as a moving bicyclist. Check reectors
and their mounting brackets regularly to make sure they are clean, straight,
unbroken and securely mounted.
