12.1 Travel Guide (optional)
The Travel Guide is the multimedia electronic travel guide in your Falk Navigator. With it you
can discover romantic squares, cosy cafés, the finest delicatessens and everything else a
town or city has to offer. As well as information in lots of different theme categories, you have
access to highlights and Insider Tips from the MARCO POLO Travel Guides. With
preinstalled, detailed MARCO POLO Travel Guide content from hundreds of cities and
hundreds of thousands of POIs (Points of Interest), in some cases with explanatory text and
pictures, the Travel Guide is not just the perfect travel companion but is also a guide that will
take you to see exceptional sights.
The following chapters describe how in the Travel Guide you can search specifically for
tourist destinations, add, rate and swap new destinations and thus obtain the travel
information you want for your destination.
12.1.1 Stipulate a search centre
You must first stipulate a search centre. The structure of the Travel Guide is described in the
following chapters so that you can search for specific tourist destinations or simply browse
and find out more about the tourist attractions which are of interest to you.
You can stipulate your current location, a destination that you are currently navigating to (if
you are navigating to a destination), a city centre, coordinates or a destination close to
your home address as your search centre, or you can simply open one from the previous
Travel Guides which you called up previously at an earlier point in time.
If your starting point is your current location, it is important that the navigation system has
noted your current GPS position. If this is not the case, a map view opens up. You will see
the last saved location on the map view. There you should tap on the Update button and
your current position is newly recorded. If the position shown matches your current location,
tap on Ok.
If you would like to create a Travel Guide for an address (current destination) or a city
centre, you will be asked to enter the address or the city name via the keypad.
Recent Travel Guides are displayed in a list. You can use the arrow keys to scroll back and
forth between the recent positions. Tapping on an entry will select it and, if you click on the
Ok button, it will be set as the search centre.
After the search centre has been stipulated, the screen switches to a view of all available
theme categories.
