2.1.3 Configuration of the operating modes
Depending on the application, the CTEU-EC bus node permits
manual configuration as an alternative to automati c co nfi gur-
ation. In automati c configuration (auto mode), the connected
devices are automatically read in. In this case, however, the
configuration defined must match the connected devices. If
other participants are detected, or a participant is missing, an
error will be output.
Tool change mode permits flexibility in the integration/re-
placement of participants. Here only an anonymous data
range is created, whi ch is occupied by a participant. It is not
defined which devices will actually be connected. This allows
different devices to be used as desired.
Configuration of operating modes must be complete before
SAFE-OPERATIONAL status is activated.
Automatic configuration (auto mode)
In auto mode, the I-ports are checked for devices at startup.
The I/O data lengths are read fro m the I- port device and
transmitted to EtherCAT. The I/O data length for both I-ports
must not exceed 16 bytes. Devices co nnected to the I-po rt
can only be repla ced with devi ces of the same type.
