If you have to mount a curb, do so slowly
and approach it with the wheels at
right-angles to the curb.
Examine the tires regularly for cuts, foreign
objects and uneven wear of the tread.
Uneven wear could mean that the wheel
alignment is outside specification.
Check the tire pressures (including the
spare) when cold, every two weeks.
USING WINTER TIRES
If winter tires are used you must inflate
them to the same tire pressures as those
listed in the tire pressure table. See
Technical Specifications (page 192).
USING SNOW CHAINS
WARNINGS
Do not exceed 31 mph (50 km/h).
Do not use snow chains on snow-free
roads.
Only fit snow chains to specified
tires. See Technical Specifications
(page 192).
If your vehicle has wheel trims,
remove them before fitting snow
chains.
Only use snow chains of 10 millimeters or
smaller.
Only use snow chains on the driven wheels.
Note: The anti-lock brake system will
continue to operate normally.
Vehicles with Stability Control
When stability control is on, your vehicle
may exhibit some unusual driving
characteristics. To reduce this, switch
traction control off. See Using Traction
Control (page 114).
TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING
SYSTEM
WARNING
The tire pressure monitoring system
is not a substitute for manually
checking tire pressures. You should
periodically check tire pressures using a
pressure gauge. Failure to correctly
maintain tire pressures could increase the
risk of tire failure, loss of control, vehicle
rollover and personal injury.
You must check the tire pressures
(including the spare tire where applicable)
every two weeks when the tires are cold.
You must inflate the tires to the correct
pressure.
See Wheels and Tires (page 178). The tire
pressures are also on the tire inflation
pressure label (located on the edge of
driver door or the B-Pillar).
As a driver assistance feature, your vehicle
has a tire pressure monitoring system. A
warning lamp will illuminate when one or
more of the tires are significantly
under-inflated. If the low tire pressure
warning lamp illuminates, you should stop
your vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so,
check the tires and inflate them to the
correct pressure.
