Setting the password

We recommend you to print out the following instructions, as these instructions cannot be
displayed while setting the password.
You have three attempts to enter the correct password. After three attempts your system
will be locked. In this case, you must switch your notebook off before you attempt a
restart. If you have forgotten your password, please contact your customer service centre.
With the BIOS Setup you can set a user password and a supervisor password.
The supervisor password enables you to access the entire system configuration (access to the BIOS
Setup).
The user password only allows you limited access to the configuration of the BIOS Setup. You cannot
assign a user password until after you set a supervisor password.
Setting the password
Ê Switch on your notebook.
Ê Start the BIOS Setup.
Ê Change to the Security menu.
Ê Use the cursor keys æ

è to select the password.
Ê Press the Enter key to change the setting.
The Password dialogue field appears on the screen.
Ê Enter the password and press the Enter key.
The password can be up to seven characters long. You can only use lowercase letters and
numbers. The characters do not appear on the screen during entry.
You are asked to confirm the password.
Ê Enter the password again and confirm with the Enter key.
Changing and deleting a password
Ê Switch on your notebook.
Ê Start the BIOS Setup.
Ê Change to the Security menu.

The Password dialogue field appears on the screen.
Ê Enter your current password and press the Enter key.
Ê Enter a new password and press the Enter key if you want to change your current password.
Ê Press the Enter key.
You are asked to confirm the password.
Ê Enter the password again and confirm with the Enter key.
