9.1 Installing RightFax
For information on installing RightFax, refer to a manual that describes RightFax installation.
This scanner uses RightFax E-mail Gateway functions for SMTP/POP3 (henceforth referred to "E-
mail Gateway").
The E-mail Gateway monitors specified mailboxes of a mail server. If an e-mail is received, it is
accessed by using POP3, imported to the RightFax server, and sent by fax. For e-mail routing, the
scanner uses a method for specifying a fax number in the e-mail address description-area. (It is not
necessary for customers to be aware of the description area.) Using this e-mail routing method les-
sons need to make changes to the mail server settings.
For details about E-mail Gateway, refer to "Using RightFax E-mail Gateways" and "Simple mail-
box with description-area fax information" in the "RightFax Administrator’s Guide".
Hereinafter, "RFAX" account is used as an example to explain how RightFax uses POP3 to moni-
tor a mail server mailbox to access an account.
