Protecting BIOS Setup Utility (supervisor and user password)
If you have opened these opera ting instructions on the screen, w e recommend that
you print out t he following instructions. Because you cannot call the instructions
onto the scree n while you are setting up the password.
BIOSSetupUtility
You prevent unauthorised use o f the BI OS Setup Utility with bo th the supervisor and the user
password. The sup ervisor password gives you access to all functions of the BIOS Setup
Utility, w hile the user password only provides some of the functions. You can only set a
user password if a supervisor password has alread y been assigned.
Please refer to the ""Settings in BIO S Setup Utility", Page 54 section for a
description of how to call u p and operate the BIO S Setu p Utility.
Setting supervisor and user password
Start the BIOS Setup Utility and go to the Security menu.
Select the Set Supervisor Password eld and press the Enter key.
With Enter new Password: you are asked to enter a password.
Enter the password and press the Enter key.
Conrm new Password requires you to conrm the password.
Enter the passwo rd again and press the Enter key.
Changes have been saved is a conrmation that the new password has been saved.
To set the use r password, select Set User Password and proceed exactly as
when con guring the supervisor password.
If you do not want to change any other settings, you can exit BIOS Setu p Utility.
In the Exit menu, select the opt ion Save Changes & Exit.
Select Yes and press the Enter key.

The notebook will be rebooted and the new password will c ome into effect. It will now be
necessary to rst enter your supervisor or user password in order to op en the BIOS Setup Utility.
Please note that the user password only provides access to a few of the BIOS settings.
Changing the supervisor or user password
You can only change the supervisor passw ord wh en you have logged into the
BIOS Setup U tility with the supervisor passw ord.

Call the BIOS Setup Utility and go to the Security menu.
When changing the password, proceed exa ctly as for password assignment.
