Removing and installing componen ts
during servicing
Preparing to remove components
If you are going to re move or change system componen ts, prepare for the removal as follows:
Please observe the safe ty information in chapter "Im portant notes", Page 5.
Remove the power plug from the mains o utlet !
► Switch the device off.
The device must not be in energy-saving mode !
► Close the LCD screen.
► Remove all the cables from t he device.
► Turn the device over and place it on a stable, flat and clean surface. If necessary, lay an
anti-slip cloth on this surface to pre v ent the device from being scratched.
► Remove the battery (see "
Removing a battery" , Page 25).
Installing and removing memory expansion

If you are asked by the Hotline/Help Desk to remove and install the memory
expansion module yourself, proceed a s follows:
Please observe the safe ty information in chapter "Im portant notes", Page 5.
The note book must be switched off when installing/removing memory modules
and it mu st not be in one of the power saving modes.
Only use memory exp ansion modules that ha ve been approved for your
notebook (see "
Technical data", Page 62).
Never use force when installing or removing a memory extension.
Make sure that foreign objects do not fall into the m emory extension compartment.
The memory module is located unde
rneath the service compartment. You must open the service
compartment to remove or install
a memory module. Once you have removed the cover,
the various components are expo
sed. These components s hould be removed and replaced
only by authorised specialist
s. Therefore, be sure to observe the following:
Individual components (e.g.
the processor heat sink) can become very h ot
during operation. Therefore
, we recommen d that you wait one hour after
switching off the notebook b
efore removing or installing memory modules.
Otherwise, there is a risk of
suffering burns!

ed tha t are sensitive to static electricity, please take
note of chapter "
